In 1998, the Avalon Beverly Hills reopened after a renovation and makeover by architect Kining Eizenberg and designer Kelly Weastler. Embracing the retro glamour of the 1950s, the chic update enabled the hotel to offer every modern convenience to its clientele without sacrificing style. Accents like geometric George Nelson bubble lamps, Eames cabinets, Thonet chairs, Noguchi tables, and a figure-eight pool with cabanas for guests make it almost surprising to find dual-line phones, fax machines, modem ports, DVD players, and 27-inch TVs in every room.
