The Berkley Pit was the world's largest open pit mine, spanning from 5,600 feet wide and 1 mile deep. Everything from mine frames to museums to Victorian homes can still be visited throughout the area. For recreation, there is no better place for mountain climbing, biking, rock climbing, fishing, hunting, skiing, and hiking, all within very few miles of us. We are between 2 national parks. (Yellowstone & Glacier). Several places nearby that produce outstanding mineral specimens and crystals for amateur rock hounds. Very fine specimens of clear quartz crystals, smoky quartz, and amethyst have come from the digging.
